Looking for dead family members

We headed down south the first weekend in May for the St. George Ironman Triathalon for Clarissa (no she didn't compete she massaged the athletes after they finished). On the way down we made a couple of stops. The first was at this church on the left here. It is the Old Rock Church Museum in Parowan. Rumor has it that my 4th great grandmother, Helena Mortensen, brought her hand made linens with her from Denmark in 1856. Her and her husband Peder and their family ended up in the Willie handcart company. She donated all of her linens but one for the burial of the dead at Rock Creek. (Tours of Rock Creek are avaliable upon request, let me know.) The last linen is reported to be inside this church. We couldn't get in because they are only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Looks like we may be going down again on another trip this summer to get inside.

Next up we stopped at the Parowan Cemetary where Peder and Helena are buried. We were successful in finding their graves as well as one of the children. I have attached some photos of the cemetary and their burial place. It was very neat and special to visit their graves and ponder upon the things they have taught me. Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do. If you have any questions let me know. I would love to tell you more about them. Now might be a good time to put in a plug for the movie 17 Miracles. Go see it and remember our ancestors.

As you can see I have not yet figured out how to get the pictures where I want them. One of these days . . . .
