Looking for dead family members

We headed down south the first weekend in May for the St. George Ironman Triathalon for Clarissa (no she didn't compete she massaged the athletes after they finished). On the way down we made a couple of stops. The first was at this church on the left here. It is the Old Rock Church Museum in Parowan. Rumor has it that my 4th great grandmother, Helena Mortensen, brought her hand made linens with her from Denmark in 1856. Her and her husband Peder and their family ended up in the Willie handcart company. She donated all of her linens but one for the burial of the dead at Rock Creek. (Tours of Rock Creek are avaliable upon request, let me know.) The last linen is reported to be inside this church. We couldn't get in because they are only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Looks like we may be going down again on another trip this summer to get inside.

Next up we stopped at the Parowan Cemetary where Peder and Helena are buried. We were successful in finding their graves as well as one of the children. I have attached some photos of the cemetary and their burial place. It was very neat and special to visit their graves and ponder upon the things they have taught me. Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do. If you have any questions let me know. I would love to tell you more about them. Now might be a good time to put in a plug for the movie 17 Miracles. Go see it and remember our ancestors.

As you can see I have not yet figured out how to get the pictures where I want them. One of these days . . . .

Hello from Missouri

New home in Alabama
Hello Tuckers. Just wanted to give a quick hello from Missouri and tell you all how much you are missed. We are getting ready for our next move to Alabama. It is coming up in 33 days (not that I am counting). Although the tornados that hit AL last month were close to where we are living (Gardendale) they didn't hit our area. Thank goodness. However I do believe we are more likely to have a tornado hit our area we are at now then when we move to AL so lets keep our fingers crossed...... I am countin down the years till hopefully we can move back to UT and be back with everyone, although we all don't get together as much as we used to I still feel better knowing if I am in UT you all are always up for a fun party/get together!!!!  Here is a couple pictures to show what we have been upto..

M is for the many things you do for us

Thanks Mom for always being there for my family and I. You a very special person with a lot of love and service and friendship to share. As soon as I mention that your my mom, the response is oh yes, she is such a special lady. No one goes without with her around. I Love you thanks for bringing me into this world so that I could take the earthly test to return to my father in heaven. If I can be just a pinch of what you are I would be grateful.

I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rod Tucker Clan Easter

Well, yesterday was the annual Easter egg hunt in the backyard. We hid, or sort of hid, 84 pastic easter eggs. After the hunt was over we dyed eggs inside. A good time was had by all but I sure do miss those good ol' days when we would go easter egg rolling. I think that is becoming a dying or nearly dead tradition. Hope everyone else in the family have had a good Easter. I have attached a couple of pictures of the events around here. I am hoping if I do more posting here maybe my siblings and Mom will as well. Love all of you.

I remember where I was 10 years ago yesterday

I was at work. I had a normal day and I had a question I had to ask Roger. So I called his work and asked if I could speak to Roger Ellis, I am sorry ma'am but he has left on a family emergency. I said excuse me but I am his wife, what family emergency would I not know about. She didn't know for sure so I hung up with her. I had Michelle Walker call her husband who worked nights and get on the radio to find out what was going on. In the mean time I had an emergency phone call on park 00. I picked it up only to find that Lorie was on the other end saying that dad had quit breathing at work and they had to take him to the hospital. She had her sister Becky on her way to pick me up as she thought it would not be a good idea for me to drive there. I waited anxiously for Becky and then remembered that it was the longest ride back to the hospital but that Becky was doing everything she could do to get me there as fast as she could. All I kept saying was please not my daddy, please not my daddy. When we got to the hospital, I saw Mom and Dad's bishop and his wife along with Lynda's Mom and Dad leaving, I was thinking that is kinda strange. But then again I was going to be okay because I would go into a busy emergency room and it would make me feel better. I walked into the most empty emergency room I had ever saw, including no receptionist that I could see. I rang the button and waited for someone to come and told them that I was here for Van Tucker. He said right thru the door ma'am. I opened the door and Rod looked and me and said Susie they did everything they could, he is gone. I collapsed to the floor crying no not my daddy. I remember my brothers and my Mom's bishop giving me a blessing that things would calm down for me and that I would have a peaceful feeling know that Dad was where he need to be right now. They gave me a sedative so that I could calm down. I went in to see him, only to find his body laying so still on the table with a breathing tube in his mouth and he having a gray color to him. I stood there and stroked his hair and cheek. Then kissed him on the forehead. We had the best day before and couldn't ask for him to come back as he was now out of his pain and could not ask to be in a better place. We as a family had a great week together, ending in going to the temple before the viewing and then being able to go to a temple dedication the Sunday after. I Love you Daddy of mine!!!!!!!!

Photos in memory of Dad

Memorable Day for the Tuckers

It was 10 years ago today that the patriarch of the Van Tucker Family graduated from this life to immortality. I am sure that all of us remember where we were and what we were doing when we heard the news that day. I, for one, am very grateful to call him my father and look forward to the day when we will meet again. Not yet though. If I knew how to post pictures up here I would but I am still too green in this blogging stuff. Love ya Dad.
